How to define default landing page?

I have installed joomla on one of the subdomain. When I access that subdomain directly, it shows me cpanel's hosting page "defaultwebpage.cgi". I want to be able to display the "index.php" when the subdomain is hit. How to do that?

According to cPanel forums, this might not be possible. Looks like they have it on their feature request list:
