Bulk Search
11/30/2006 10:18
Several customers have asked for a bulk search page. On the page, you can enter up to 100 domains to search for at one time. We are in the process of adding this page to our system.

We modified the bulk search so that now you can search for the TLDs you want. Is this what you had in mind?

You can still search for fully qualified domains as well. But we are thinking of removing that, unless you think you will use it.

I agree with the person above me. Those features would be cool.

When I investigate names I like to check different extensions, at least the more popular.

So for me is better a system where you write names first and then select extensions. Writing domain.com, domain.net, domain.org, domain.biz... is repetitive. Bear in mind with my method if you enter 100 names you actually will be checking 100xExtensionYouChoose

BTW, I'd prefer you have the possibility to enter names one name per line or seperate with a space or comma. The more versatile a tool, the better.

At results pages I'd display results only, not form box again and then results. The way http://www.domaintools.com/bulk-check/ works is good for me.

File upload would be useful for me. Also file download results.

But I'm the only one asking for these features so... :/

Thanks anyway!

We rewrote the bulk search for IDNs too:

http://www.dynadot.com/domain/bulk2.html

With the current bulk search, you need to specify which extension you want to search for. For example:

mydomain.com, mydomain2.com, mydomain.net

Do you still need checkboxes for the domain extensions to search for?

I guess we could add a file upload. Do people need that?

We limit it to 100 names per search to limit the load on our servers.

This would make tool more versatile, IMO:

- Just enter as many names as you like (one name per line or seperate with a space or comma). Limit 1000 name?

- In step 2: select which extensions you want to check: only .com, com and net, etc.

- Possibility to upload a file with names. A .csv maybe.

- Support for IDNs.

Thanks!
