Whois on domains bought at auction
5/14/2012 06:52
Why do domains I bought at auction still show dynadot expired pending delete on the registrant whois details weeks after the name has gone into my account?

If I come to sell a name showing this it's going to cause problems.

True. But on the other hand when you buy a domain name at godaddy the registration fee is not included in the auction purchase. You pay it after you win the auction.

On top of that at Godaddy auctions when you pay the additional registration fee you'll notice that you pay the full registration fee but you will only get around 10-11 months of the actual registration period (so you will lose even more than 8% of the registration period there). But yeah you have a point when you say that can sell your domain you won in auction 3 weeks sooner on godaddy compared to Dynadot..

In any case the grass is not always greener on the other side ;) I'm not pro dynadot or pro godaddy. I actually like both eventhough both have their own flaws.

Why? Why still show Dynadot / expired pending delete? They're paid for and in my account - with godaddy auctions 8 days after winning the auction it's in your account showing correct whois; why not the same with Dynodot?

Seems like I'm paying for something that I ony have partial access to for 8% of the registration period.

Domains purchased at Dynadot auction will have a 1 month auction lock. After that month the lock will be gone, WHOIS information will automatically be updated and you will be able to sell your domain.
