Setting up A Record DNS
4/24/2011 09:51
Hi,

I'm setting up an A record DNS on a domain name for the first time. The domain is parsing but the www. subdomain isn't included in the setup.

What is the best practice for dealing with A records and www. subdomains? Should I set up it up with the same A record address? Set up a redirect from one to the other? What is the best thing for SEO and site usability?

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for you reply. Your solution makes sense to me, but I'm still unsure about the SEO ramifications. Should I be concerned about duplicate content being hosted on both domain.com and www.domain.com?

(I realize that this part of my question doesn't necessarily fall under the auspices of DNS support.)

Thanks again

Hello,

Typically, you would create a www subdomain record and use the same A record that you use for the main domain record.
