Pending Zone Update
12/16/2011 01:24
I have been having trouble with a recently purchased domain name (.xxx), I haven't been able to do anything with it.

I've attempted to isolate the problem by parking it, that was a couple of days ago.

According to the IP Lookup tool, it's been "Pending Zone Update" for awhile now.

In my experience, modifying DNS settings only take a few hours for changes to take effect, so I suspect something may have gone wrong.

You will need to register a membership id with the .xxx central registry and add it to our system.  To do this, follow these instructions:

How do I obtain and add my Membership ID to my .XXX domain?

The central registry for .XXX requires registrants to be members of the Sponsored Community in order for their .XXX domains to resolve. You can still register .XXX domains without a member ID, but Membership is necessary before you can use the domain.

Membership Application Process:
The membership application is an automated process. .XXX domain owners will receive a membership invitation to the email address provided in the Whois information; The membership invitation email is sent by the registry within 24 hours after your domain name is registered. The FROM email address sending the invitation is "[email protected]".

Please be sure to whitelist that address in your email server so the invitation does not appear in your SPAM folder. Membership takes less than 3 minutes to complete. For an overview of the process, please see more here. You can always request a Membership Invite from this page and choose "Request Application".

To add your Membership ID to your .XXX domain, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Dynadot account.
  2. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and then "TLD Settings" in the drop-down.
  3. Click on the "XXX Settings" link.
  4. Enter your ID number In the "XXX Member ID" box.
  5. Press the "Set" button to save your changes.

After you have completed those steps, you MUST update your contact settings for the .XXX domain.

  1. Go back to "My Domains" in the left-side menu bar and "Manage Domains" in the drop-down.
  2. Check the box next to your .XXX domain name(s) and click on the "Action" button.
  3. Choose "Contacts" from the "Action" list.
  4. Select your contacts records.
  5. Press the "Submit" button to save your changes.
