Hello

From your question it seems like you are new to Domain Name world, before knowing about these terms you should learn about things related to these term.

Domain Name: Domain name is nothing but a name having an IP Address at the back of it and is registered using a registered Registrar on your behalf.

Domain Registrant: An individual/Company who registers a domain name from a Registrar.

Domain Registrar: A Company/Organization (like Dynadot) approved by ICANN and/or by national ccTLD (Country Code Top Level Domains)(like .pk for Pakistan, .us for United Stats, .fr for France .) for registering domains on the behalf of the Registrant.

IP Address: The IP Address is a unique number to identify a computer (Like you as your Social Security Number) over a network. Communication on the internet is done via IP Addresses.

Domain Name Servers (DNS): DNS Servers are the computers which will help to resolve the domain name to its IP Address/Computer.

Set Name Servers: This option is used to Set Name Servers already Created/Registered (If you don't to know to Register/Create Name Servers Please read this).

Domain Transfer: Domain transfer is the process of changing your Domain Registrar.

Transfer Lock: This lock prevents unauthorized/Fake transfers. Without this lock being Unlocked the Domain Transfer cannot be initiated.

Domain Parking: When you register a domain, it is most likely that your not going to start your website immediately. It may take time to create your website, If you Park your domain name for that free period (or what ever time you want) you will see the web page full of advertisements and If a visitor (Directly or from Search engine) visit and click on advertisement, you will earn revenue for that click. Thats what the domain parking is.

Request Deletion: This is the feature through which you can delete the accidentally registered domains in return of Dynadot Credit (through which you can register another domain) within 5 Days. This feature is only for a certain TLDs.

Contact Record: You can read more from Dynadot's Help section about Contact Records.

Set Contact: This option is used to set the contact records already created, the above article will help you to Create/Edit/Set Contact Record.

[For Further Understanding]

How a Domain name works:

Below are the steps which are done in the background to reach at a website:

1. You enter an URL/Web Address into your browser.

2. Your Web Browser asks your ISP about the IP Address or the URL/Domain to reach at the website.

3. The ISP then asks from Root Servers about the IP Address adked URL.

4. Root Servers gave them the address of the website's Name Servers.

5. Your ISP then goes to the Domain Name servers and ask them about the IP Address of the website.

6. The DNS Servers which already know the IP address response with the IP.

7. The IP is then sent to your computer and is remembered by your Computer/ISP (For a certain time for further requests of same website).

8. After having the IP address your Browser directly communicates with that Web Server using that IP and doesn't needs to repeat the above processes again, until or unless the IP is remembered (Cached) by your Computer or your ISP.

Please correct me, If I am wrong at any place.

Regards
Mashahood Nizamani
