is it a must to have a name server?

Sorry but i am not too good at internet stuff. May i ask if i can leave my name server empty? will it affect anything?

If you remove your name servers your name will no longer resolve. If you have E-mail or hosting everything will stop working so do not that unless you want to disable the domain completely :)
