how to put my vps ipaddress to my domain?

hi, i need help, can u help me out? i'm not gd at this, how to put my vps ip address in the the domain i just bought?

Please ask your web host how to point your domain to your webspace. Once you have that information, we will be able to assist you with the set-up.

This was a horrible response, i came here and found nothing for answers quite frankly and now my domain sits broken now trying to find an answer to this. I need to setup a VPS. Same as the fella above. There are different types of records and no matter what im picking, its showing up misconfigured.
