"Domain not found"
6/19/2012 16:05
Currently, I own a domain name that redirects from a forum that I have, hosted by Zetaboards. This domain name is: rs-ko.com (this is what I paid for)

However, when I type in www.rs-ko.com (with the 'www.'), it gives me this error:

So far 4 people who have tried to access my forum have received this same exact error, and I don't understand why.

Another interesting thing is that when I just type ko-rs.com, it works, but only for a couple of users. For the 4 others mentioned above, they still get an error and basically cannot access my forum.

Can someone help?

The CNAME you have entered for the main domain may be incorrect.  You have the subdomain forwarding to an existing site, which is why www.rs-ko.com is resolving.

You need to update your settings.  Do you have the CNAME you want to use?

Ignore my previous post, I think this is done correctly here:

After around 5 minutes I asked one of the people who was having trouble accessing the site, and told me that it didn't work for him.

I used the snapshot feature and got this:

I could have sworn it was showing up perfectly before, but after a while I took another snapshot and got what you currently see. I seriously don't know what's going on. Is my website being redirected back and forth?

During the time I was playing around with the settings, a couple more people had trouble accessing the website. What should I do?

Edit: Now I can't access the website.

Okay, I've done everything you've listed:

Can you confirm if that's correct?

One of the users having a problem with our website sent me this after the changes were made:

You'll need to create a www subdomain record.  For your main domain record,  we suggest forwarding to the www version since using a CNAME for the main domain is problematic.  Please refer to the help file below.   You'll want your configuration to match the image.

How do I create a CNAME?

A CNAME record is short-hand for Canonical Name record, which allows you to assign a domain or subdomain to another address or hostname. CNAME records should only be used if you can't use an A record.

NOTE: If you already have an A record within the Domain records section, please SKIP step 5!

To create a CNAME, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Dynadot account.
  2. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Manage Domains" in the drop-down.
  3. Check the box next to the domain name(s) and select "DNS Settings" from the "Action" drop-down menu.
  4. On the new page, select the "Dynadot DNS" option from the drop-down menu.
  5. In the "Domain Record (optional)" section at the top, select "Forward" as the record type, choose forward type, and enter "https://www.yourdomainname.ext" as the "Target Host". (NOTE: This is optional and please replace the value based on your own domain name.)
  6. Under the "Subdomain Record (optional)" field, enter "www" as the subdomain, select "CNAME" as the record type and enter the CNAME record given to you.
  7. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "Save Settings" button to save your changes.

Please be aware that it might take some time for your changes to propagate.

A CNAME may be necessary for your domain to work with the following: Blogger, Blogspot, TypePad, iweb, MobileMe, zenfolio, ning.

Your settings should look similar to what is shown below:

From Help Section: Account & Domain Management > Domain Settings > How do I create a CNAME?
