8/4/2010 12:54
Hey all,

I'm new with all this domain thingie, but what I reall need help with is a simple thing.

I need to forward my domain to my blog: http://greekhouseluverz.blogspot.com/

Can anyone be so kind and explain to me step-by-step how I do this?

My domain I bought here is http://greekhouseloverz.net/

I'd very much like it to work as http://greekhouseloverz.net/ and www.greekhouseloverz.net/

All help is appreciated!

I still have 'A' Record Type and as you can see the domain working good http://www.greekhouseloverz.net/.But only with 'www', without 'www' I can't access to my domain. If I put 'Forward' Record Type then the problem will be solved?

> So what can I do to redirect the blogspot url to my domain?

In the section: http://photos1.blogger.com/x/blogger/7470/213/1600/821297/enterdomain.jpg, you need to enter the hostname: www.greekhouseloverz.net, then the redirect should start working.

In your Dynadot account, the Domain Record should be a "Forward" Record Type and its Target Host should be http://www.greekhouseloverz.net instead of the A record you have set.

We visited all 3 versions of your website and they seem to be working properly at this time.

Please note that if you entered a redirect on Blogger (http://greekhouseluverz.blogspot.com/) to forward to your domain, then it would not work.  This is because you are forwarding your domain to your Blogger website, however, your Blogger website is forwarding back to your domain.  Thus, you have created an forwarding "loop" in which each URL forwards to the other.

Your web browser may detect this and print an error message instead to avoid getting stuck in a loop.

I made all the settings but there is no redirect now.
http://www.greekhouseloverz.net/

Is this a problem of DNS?I have to wait a little more?

EDIT: I put my blog also into Forwarding and Stealth Forwarding area.Is that wrong?

Before I do this http://photos1.blogger.com/x/blogger/7470/213/1600/821297/enterdomain.jpg

www.greekhouseloverz.net , greekhouseloverz.net and greekhouseluverz.blogspot.com was woriking. Then I did the redirect from blogger and now noone is working!

The easiest way to do that is to simply set up the forwarding option for your domain:

How do I set up domain forwarding?

What is domain forwarding?

Domain forwarding is the process of redirecting a website visitor to another domain name prior to the initial webpage loading. This will prevent the user from visiting the original URL destination, and will instead forward them to a specified web address.

To set up domain forwarding on any of your domain names, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Dynadot account.
  2. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Manage Domains" in the drop-down.
  3. Check the box next to your domain name(s) and click on the "Action" button.
  4. Choose "DNS Settings" from the "Action" list.
  5. On the DNS page, select the "Dynadot Forwarding" setting from the top drop-down menu.
  6. Enter the URL of the page you wish to forward to, following the format of the example given.
  7. Choose 302 Redirect or 301 Redirect (See the differences)
  8. Press the "Forward Domain" button to save your changes.

Please be aware that it might take some time for your name server changes to propagate.

Another way to set up forwarding is through Dynadot DNS on the DNS Settings page:

Check how the Advanced Options work.

From Help Section: Account & Domain Management > How do I set up domain forwarding?

Alternately, you can use what is called in Blogger's system as a Custom Domain Name:

The steps for setting that up in our system are shown here:
