About TeamSpeak
1/21/2008 13:30
Hi, was curious. I talked to a TeamSpeak hosting company and they said I would have to have my domain company do this for me.

Instead of having a server like 212.234.12.3:9831 I could have ts.mydomain.com

I was wondering how that would be done? thanks.

I'm not familiar with TeamSpeak, however, it appears that they want you to set up a subdomain to point to a certain IP address.  If you are currently using another web host's name servers to host your domain, you will need to set up your subdomain with your web host.

If, however, you are using our name servers, you will need to use the Advanced DNS option to set up your subdomain.  Steps on how to set your domain to use the Advanced DNS option can be found here:

How do I set up DNS for my domain?

Before adding DNS records, determine which name servers your domain is using:

  • If your domain uses third-party name servers: Contact your hosting provider to add DNS records, as all DNS configurations are managed directly on the designated name servers.
  • If your domain uses Dynadot DNS: Your domain is automatically using our name servers, so manual name server configuration is not required. You can add DNS records directly through the Dynadot DNS page by following these steps:
  1. Sign in to your Dynadot account.
  2. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and click "Manage Domains" in the drop-down.
  3. Check the box next to your domain name(s) and click on the "Action" button.
  4. Choose "DNS Settings" from the "Action" list.
  5. On the DNS Settings page, select the "Dynadot DNS" setting from the top drop-down menu.
  6. Choose the "Record Type" you want to use from the drop-down menu, then enter the IP Address or Target Host of your web server in the text box.
  7. Press the "Save Settings" button to save your changes.
Please be aware that it might take some time for your name server changes to propagate.

Note:
If your domain is configured with Dynadot Email Setting, please disable the email settings first. Once disabled, you can proceed with resetting your DNS records.
