First of all I'm not throwing stones at DynaDot, I'm just curious about how a domain owner can speed the transfer process.
I'm moving a domain from my old registrar (Boo! Hiss!) to DynaDot (Yea! Hooray!).
I've supplied DynaDot with all the particulars including the authorization code I'd gotten from my old registrar.
My old registrar sent an email saying they'd gotten the transfer request and were waiting for my approval. I responded immediately to authorize the transfer.
DynaDot then announces that the transfer is in progress and completion is estimated 6 days from now.
At first I thought it was just a general case estimate that allows 5 days for people to default if they don't respond to the releasing registrar's challenge.
But it's already been 24 hours and I've jumped all the hoops I can think of.
So the questions are:
1) What accounts for the 6 day delay when transferring a domain?
2) How can a domain owner speed the transfer process?
Dynadot sometimes take 3-4 days before sending the auth mail to "initiate" the transfer process?
Why is this? It's ridiculous.
Sometimes we are not able to retrieve the Whois from the current domain registrar as explained in this forum thread. You will need to email us directly to find out the exact reason why we cannot send the authorization emails out right away.
I have approved a transfer of my domain name but I am getting an error in the control panel. Is this common?
It looks like we received an error from the central registry while trying to initiate your transfer. It appears that your domain is in the process of being transferred despite this error. Please email us directly if you have any more questions about this.

Im transfering a bunch of names to dynadot right now, and some of them are going to expire during the process, because YOU took days to fire off the auth email.
So the problem is with the old Registrar -- I'm not surprised.
Let me push my luck a bit here. How long does DynaDot take if DynaDot is the releasing registrar? Put another way, does DynaDot take the six days once the account holder confirms the transfer?
Once a transfer is initiated, the losing registrar has about 6 days to approve or deny the transfer. If they do nothing, then the transfer is auto-approved at the end of 6 days.
So if the current registrar already has your approval, then they may let the transfer auto-approve at the end of 6 days. You may want to check with them to see if they can manually approve the transfer request.
