Still reeling badly from the Registerfly & Godaddy debacle. Lost more than 20 domains with Registerfly while I just found out that a number of my domains with Godaddy has expired and I have no access to renewing them although its only been 1-3 weeks since they've expired. I understand would freeze my expired domains and then "ransom" it for $80 each, otherwise they'll auction it off.
Just so that we're clear on this, could you please let me know of your grace period, process and etc for renewing expired domains?
We send renewal emails to your account email address reminding you to renew your domains 60, 30, 10, and 3 days before your domain expires. We send another email when your domain expires, and one last email when your domain has been deleted from the central registry.
Most domain extensions follow the expiration cycle stated in our article, Domain Lifecycle Explanation. The only domain TLDs that do not follow the stated periods exactly are .WS, .CN, .UK, and .EU since these central registries have their own renewal timelines. You can find information on the exact expiration/renewal periods for these TLDs in our Service Agreement, Part 2, Section 2 "Restoration of an Expired Domain."
