What apparently happened was that Dynadot emailed me twice. The first email bounced (the dreaded "full box" message) but the second one went unbounced, undelivered and unanswered.
So Dynadot resorted to using the Dynadot members mail system (click on the "Messages" tab on this page). Naturally, I check the Dynadot "message" system about as often as I picnic on the moon, so I was getting frantic and Dynadot had no way to tell me what happened.
I think the matter is resolved now.
This is a long winded way to suggest you check your "Messages" at Dynadot if you have a pending transaction that seems overdue.
Umm, I think there is a genuine problem with payments to Dynadot right now. Perhaps my email asking if Dynadot at least got the instrument didn't arrive. It was was sent along with a copy of the invoice on Sept 18 and didn't bounce.
Today is Sept 21 and I've heard nothing about a payment sent on the 27th of *last* month from Washington DC.
Considering that clearing domestic interbank transfers is not supposed to take more than 3days (according to the Federal Reserve, at any rate) and that the USPS normally manages to deliver domestic mail in a week, over three weeks should be plenty of time for for the payment to be delivered and credited by Dynadot.
So three things are at play:
1) Dynadot has not credited a domestic payment mailed three weeks ago. OK, there is a possibility the check was lost by USPS.
2) My email three days ago to [email protected] (see Dynadot's response earlier in this thread) has gone unacknowledged and didn't bounce. OK, there is a possibility the email got lost on in etherspace.
3) There is a meltdown in US credit markets and defaults are at record highs. Given how rarely the USPS loses a check and that most email seems to make it through, this third possibility raises the ugly spector of a cash flow crunch at Dynadot where any float would be helpful.
I don't want to leap to any unwarrented conclusions; but, like the person who initiated this thread I am fast losing confidence in Dynadot's normally exraordinary dilligence and responsiveness.
Say it isn't so (and better yet, find my payment and let me know what happened)...
We usually do not acknowledge when payment is received, however, we process most money orders on the same day we receive them. Therefore, an "Order Finished" email is usually a sign that we have received payment.
If you are concerned with the status of your payment, you can email us at [email protected] for the status of your order.
Does Dynadot routinely acknowledge when payment is received or credited? After a week or so wondering if the prepayment has arrived I too start becoming concerned.
In a perfect world, receipt of the instrument would be acknowledged and a notice sent when the funds are credited to the user's Dynadot account.
I realize that acknowledgments are a processing cost and that some customers will reasonably become confused at the distinction between "receipt of the instrument" and when the funds actually become available. But like the originator of this thread, I've gotten concerned when it took quite a while before a payment showed up on my account.
So you have at least two votes here for letting us know when the check/MO arrives.
