Pending Delete List
7/19/2013 18:25
You guys recently caught a domain for me in the  Pending Delete List, but I am having second thoughts since the domain has a trademark on it.   Am I still obligated to pay for the domain?  I noticed your email says I have 48 hours to pay.  What happens if I don't pay?  Thanks.

Dynadot expects you to pay for all drop catch and auction orders.  You can cancel bids until the auction ends, or delete backorders up until the cut-off time, but if the order is created for you, it is too late to back out.  If you fail to pay for 2 orders (auctions or backorders), your account will be banned from participating.

Thanks for the advice.  But any chance I can get an official ruling or a link to the policy here?

When you buy a domain through the Dynadot expired auction platform you are obligated to pay for it since the Dynadot drop catch system did the work to catch it for you. If you don't pay then Dynadot will likely ban you from participating in future expired auctions.

On the other hand if you caught the domain yourself AND the domain name is less than 5 days old, you may be able to request a Grace Period Deletion for a Dynadot account credit (which is basically the price of the domain minus a $2 fee, so if you paid $9.99 for a domain you will get a $7.99 refund in this case).

If there's a trademark on your domain you can always cancel it after purchase but you probably won't even get a partial refund in this case since you used the drop catch system instead of catching it yourself.
