New Customer that does not understand your whois privacy
9/21/2014 12:14
Been doing a lot of business with Dynadot since I signed up but this could be a deal breaker.  Your whois privacy  shows my name. this is  probably fine for someone with a common name but  it provides no privacy to people like me with very unique names.  Basically if you  have my name you can find out easily where I live.  Theres only one of me. and in these days its extremely easy to look up and address provided the name is very unique.  You have not thought of your customers for who this is true.

I have read that you think this is an improvement to true whois but  I have had no issue with ownership issues with any other  registrar and they all conceal my name.  What are my options. Can I transfer ownership to someone else with a more generic name or add them to my account under contacts?

As it stands right now. I might as well have  my address and all info on my websites.

"We may be changing/adding a new privacy feature in the future which will fit your needs"

I'll check back with you guys whenever you do but I will be tapering off using you until you do as I am now realizing many others have.  When I buy anything that promises privacy I want privacy. To give another reason why this is no good -If I were into anything like Porn I would not want someone to be able to connect my porn sites with business sites with my political view sites. Putting an established business there as a name  would be even worse. Privacy does not mean you don't know where I live but  you don't know who I am.

If you have a valid organization, you can add that to your contact record and the company will show rather than your name.

You can transfer ownership to someone else, but then that person becomes the new owner of the domain name instead of you.

We may be changing/adding a new privacy feature in the future which will fit your needs.
