I want my privacy back please
2/24/2014 23:07
I just purchased privacy for one of my domains and I was expecting that my name would NOT show up, but it does. I understand you have your legal responsibilities, but I'm not happy about it. Please refund 2 dollars into my account so I can transfer the name elsewhere and get actual privacy. What other suggestions do you have???

@c_w_freehold_us:
I don't believe a code would work for our purposes, but thank you for the suggestion.

Please send any order cancellation requests to [email protected]. Be sure to email us from the address connected to your account.

Our privacy service does not replace the Registrant name.  We only replace the contact information.  Your Whois lookup would loo like the example shown here:

https://www.dynadot.com/domain/privacy.html

If we replace the Registrant name with our company (or privacy company name) we become the owner.  What you can do is edit your contact record to show only your initials, or perhaps the name of your company or organization.  As long as the information is valid.

How do I edit my contact records listed in the Whois?

How do I edit my domain contact records listed in the Whois?

To edit your contact records, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Dynadot account.
  2. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and then click "Contact Records" in the drop-down.
  3. Click on the link associated with the contact record you wish to edit in the "Name/Email" area.
  4. You will be prompted to unlock your account.
  5. Click again on the link associated with the contact record you wish to edit in the "Name/Email" area.
  6. Edit your contact information in the provided form.
  7. Click the "Save" button to save your changes.

NOTE: If you update a Whois contact record that is being used for a generic top-level domain (gTLD), such as .COM, you will receive a Whois Contact Record Verification email from [email protected] to your Whois registrant email (After you hit "Save", you will see information about whether or not this email has been sent out under the "gTLD Verification" section). You will need to click on the link in the email to verify your contact record. Failure to verify your contact record within 15 days will result in the suspension of the domains attached to that contact record (your domains will be set to parking).

Once you update your contact records for your domains, it might take a few days for the public Whois directory to update.

Yes I just checked one of my domain names too, and I see my company's name show up, which I would rather not have.

what I suggest Dynadot do, is generate its own internal numeric code which is unique for each Dynadot customer, then allow that code to be shown on the registrar page, so no one will publicly see the person's name or company.

I especially want more privacy now since some of my work involves helping with the prosecutions of certain Internet perps.

Thanx,
