I just want to say that I love Dynadot a lot!! I've been a loyal customer since 2006. Today, I was impressed by Dynadot : they succeded in catching a dropping domain name for me!! This domain was registered at Enom, and generally the only way to catch an Enom domain name is by using NameJet. There was already 1 bidder at NameJet so I prefer not to backorder the domain there and I decided to backorder it with Dynadot. I was pretty sure Namejet will catch the domain. Guess what? Dynadot caught it!!! I can't believe it Dynadot just beat NameJet!!! Thank you Dynadot you rock!!!

We completely agree. The private auction that follows a successful backorder is only for those who placed a backorder on that domain before the cut-off time.  Others are not permitted to participate, not even by request.

Here's how it works:

If there is only one backorder placed, an order will be created and we will do our very best to catch the domain for you. Please understand that there is no guarantee here. These domains are being dropped by the Central Registry and there may be competition from other Registrars.

If there are multiple backorders for the same domain, a three day private auction will be held for the customers that backordered the domain. The starting bid will be $5 over the registration price, and will be placed for the customer who first placed the backorder.

Well thank you but I didn't know that people who didn't backorder the domain on Dynadot could participate in the auction, so I didn't know someone has placed a higher bid than me in the Drop Catch Auction for that domain and I lost it. Now I am disappointed. It's not fair that people can place a bid in the drop catch auction when they didn't even backorder the domain and made all the research process to find that expiring domain first. :(
