I'm a web designer and I have seen many badly designed websites but none of them has ever disappointed me as much as your site, particularly your top menu system.
While I'm logged I go to www.dynadot.com home page and I see these top menu items: WELCOME, DOMAIN NAMES, WEB HOSTING, MARKETPLACE, SSL, FORUMS, COMPANY
Then I click my account and see these: SUMMARY, DOMAINS, SEARCH, WEB HOSTING, SSL, MY INFO, MESSAGES, MARKETPLACE, FORUMS, SIGNOUT
I check a few things in my account but then I suddenly want to check domain prices. How can I do that? I check the menu items one by one and none of them works. Where are domain prices I wonder.
Then by chance I click the logo and go to home page. The top menu colour is exactly the same as it was just before but I realise that some of the menu items have changed.
I start checking them one by one again. Finally I arrive at the last menu item "company" and here I find the domain prices.
How could you create such a terrible menu system that changes depending on where you are? And not only that, it also keeps the exact same colour so that the user has no clue that the top menu has changed.
This is just terrible design. Have you guys ever heard of usability testing? Have you ever done usability testing?
Please create a list of tasks a user can do on your site and then give these to an average Internet user and watch them live. Also ask them to speak aloud what they think as they do the tasks.
You can do usability testing yourself. But please fire your designer first.
I can't believe what I just saw. The top menu item "marketplace" that is inside your account is different from the top menu item "marketplace" that is outside your account.
Are you intentionally trying to confuse customers?
