Last Night I Seen a Domain in Expired domains and i Placed My bid, as The Auction for that Domain was about to end in few moments. There were already few Bids Placed.
After i Placed my bid and i can Back to The Domain Listing Page, i seen That someone had Placed bid of $1 Higher Then me.i Not placed any more bids o That domain.
and Today i am Facing This Situation every time when i place bid on the domain which has already one or more bids placed.
if i Put bid of $15 Then it gives me message that i have been outbid because Someone placed bid of $16, if i Put $20,
I am Already out of Bid As someone else has placed bid of $21.
i Placed Bid on Other Domain to just Check it.Domain had already one bid.
i Placed $12.25 on Domain and i came back to Auction page, i Was Out of Bid as someone else had placed bid of $13.25 at the same time.
Lol, i can't Understand that What is This?
Does This happen With All Guys?
Who is This someone? Dynadot?????

What the DD Staffer is saying is totally true -- but to be practical about the thing, if a domain is really worth something to you, and it is getting late in the game, i.e. minutes or seconds to go, you should bid what you think the domain is really worth -- just dont go up $1 -- learn to realize this type of bidding is newbie bidding, which usually looses to an experienced bidder, who will bid in higher increments to wipe out the newbies (LOL).

In other words, if you think a domain is worth $50 and there are a number of other bidders -- you can bet you a$$ that someone else also may think like yourself. Test the waters with $5 or so and if you are not the high bid you can easily tell yourself, yes, someone is up there. then go for it. Bidding $1 is usually meaningless and cowardly.

Another tip -- never bid in even amounts. Think about it: You can loose by 5 cents :-)

m_c_london_gb_2 is correct.

We use proxy bidding for our auctions.

So, for example, if bidder A places a bid of $20.00 for a new domain, our system will start his bid at $11.25 and bid up to $20.00.

When you visit that auction, you will see $11.25, since that is our starting price.

If you decide to place a bid for $13.00, you will be outbid immediately by bidder A, and the next bid will be $14.00.

In order to outbid the first bidder, you'd need to bid at least $20.01.

Sounds like the previous bidder had placed a higher proxy bid than your bid (just like with eBay and other venues). The current bid might be at $20 but that doesn't mean you can win it for $21 if the previous bidder had placed a higher maximum bid. The proxy will keep on bidding automatically at the minimum increment each time another bid is placed until they win the item or until their proxy is exceeded by another bidder.

Why don`t you just do a whois lookup on the domains you are getting outbid on to find out who this bidder is ?

hmm...

some time it happened to me as well...

i usually place bid at the last few seconds ... like

last high bid is $15 ... even i placed bid for $20 and next moment what?? i was outbid and auction over ... lol ...

it happened to me couple of times ...

so now i left bidding ... as i know it is no use to bid on good domain name...

dynadot should answer this
