ns1.dynadot.com and ns2.dynadot.com have not been working for some time. Which caused all domains usign Dynadot dns to stop working. Includeing www.dynadot.com. May be you should put ns1 and ns2 in different locations so the do not go down together :)
Agreed. Communication is critical. FYI, I still can't ping your name servers, perhaps it's my ISP's cache.
Fortunately I found that I was able to redirect to different nameservers while Dynadots were down. I plan to continue using these name servers at this time. Dynadot, are you considering additional redundancy for the future?
We apologize for the down-time. Yesterday morning we experienced a DDoS attack on our main Name Servers. The repairs were completed yesterday afternoon. Because of the attack, we did have to change the IP address associated with our ns1.dynadot.com and ns2.dynadot.com Name Servers. Your sites are online now, but there will likely be some caching issues resulting from this IP change. Clearing all 3 levels of cache (browser, computer, ISP) should resolve the issue. Again, we sincerely apologize for the trouble. Next time we will be sure to post on all available social media before we begin working to repair the issue.
Although I must say, I was a GoDaddy client for a month, and I was treated FAR worse in that time than the entire time I've been here, including this little problem. If this is the most trouble I ever have here, I'll be happy overall.
Yeah, that was terrible. Why in the WORLD are ns1 and ns2 in the same location? Most of the things I do on my domains are automated tasks, so I didn't even notice there was a problem until I got this email today:
Yesterday, 17:33 34 consecutive bad hostname ping failures over 22 minutes Yesterday, 12:53 253 consecutive bad hostname ping failures over about 4 hours Yesterday, 09:00 184 consecutive bad hostname ping failures over about 3 hours Yesterday, 07:44 20 consecutive bad hostname ping failures over 11 minutes
I may need to look for a new DNS provider soon, because SERIOUSLY.
According to Dynadot on Twitter: Our servers are currently down due to dos attack. Our engineer are working on getting everything back up ASAP! Thank you for your patience!
