Dynadot 'Advanced Hosting' rendered my own site 'Forbidden'
11/18/2012 10:12
Dear Dybadot:                                                                                                                 Sunday 11/18/12
Nine months ago when telling an acquaintance who is a ‘Techy’ working daily with HTML, that I wished to create a website, he recommended your Dynadot site, so I registered mitigation-resources.com, no problem.  But that is where I went wrong, not realizing your site was designed for industry insiders; unlike Go-Daddy, which is designed for the man in the street, the man or woman whose technical knowledge does not go beyond starting the car, or the TV set.
This discrepancy fully hit me when I found I could not log onto my own Dynadot Advanced Hosting site because, ‘where was CPanel’?  After making queries all over your site, I finally discovered the convoluted method to do so; but was then confronted with your own ‘insider language’, totally unfamiliar with myself, a hapless customer, such as:
1.      FTP User name (what does the acronym FTP stand for?);
2.      Document Root Field Box???  What is all of that supposed to mean?
My first thought was the Dynadot staff do not realize that to survive on today’s internet, a site needs to be ‘user-friendly’, but I also recognized you could not be that naïve; so the reason must lie in your sites concept, it is designed for the HTML Techy, not a man-in-the-street, such as I.
Two months ago I received an offer from a website creator, to create two websites for me, and so I hosted them on your Dynadot.  We got one, ‘plannedspace-designbuild.com’ up and preliminarily running, but she could not affix php (I had to ask her what was php).  So I went back to your site and learned that for an additional fee I could purchase your ‘Advanced Hosting’ with php function on both of my new sites.  But once I ordered your ‘Advanced Hosting’ and later attempted to log onto my ‘plannedspace-designbuild.com’, below is the result!!!

It is true that our Advanced Hosting is not really designed for beginners.  We are working on a whole new line of hosting packages that will  include VPS and easy to use templates.  We hope to release them soon.

As for your specific issue,you are seeing this error because no files have been uploaded into your new webspace.  When a request is made to your access your site, the system looks for an index file, it is finding none.  Once you upload your content, you should see a different result.

To access your control panel for this webspace, use the cPanel login information emailed to you yesterday when you ordered the Advanced Hosting package.  Once in cPanel, you can go to the FTP accounts area to get your FTP information.  Give this to your site designer so they can complete the upload for you.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions - [email protected].
