Don't buy at Dynadot Expired Domain Auctions

Why?
Here's an email I received after won an auction yesterday...

Hello,Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately the original registrant for *****.tv has renewed the domain.
That is why your expired domain auction order was canceled.
We have credited your payment back to your Dynadot account.
Best Regards,Dynadot Staff

Can you believe Dynadot is trying to sell to you things they don't have?
Dynadot thank you very much again but I will transfert all what I have and you just lost a super bulk pricing.
See you !

Don't spend your time, don't spend your money and don't buy at Dynadot Expired Domain Auctions

Claudio and Geek -- get a life! :-) This happens at every auction, and I have run into it too, ie the same thing has happened to me at least twice  on one of the top auction sites, Namejet. Jamal is correct in what he says. I have won some incredible names as well, -- the auction starts but the owner has a form of grace period where he pays extra even, to get his expired name back -- which really hasn't been dropped yet.

The whole game is an illusion. Ever hear of Selling Short on the stock market? Well, there you sell a stock before you buy it :-) betting of course, it goes down. Not illegal, or unethical. Neither is starting a pre-auction which will go ahead and legally start -- as long as the original owner doesn't renew before it does.

Perhaps you guys should read up on what really goes on before you dump emotional crud and silly accusations, which only shows your own carelessness and mental fatigue. I am sure any of the tech guys at Dynadot would be happy to explain the facts to you, so please stop acting like children.

>Registrars never own the domains, so how could they sell them?

Maybe before they all re-wrote their regisrar-registrant contracts.

But now it's different.

Yes..
when could they sell it without breaking some policy and keep the domain here longer while the original owner couldnt renew it anymore? PENDINGDELETE i think they have to drop it, so the others remanin, when the owner as well can restore it for a greater price..
It happened with me , I`ve renewed and expired domain after it gone to the highest bed .
I think the domain still for one week in the owner`s cpanel , After that the domain will go to the highest bedder or dropped .

I`ve bought more than 2 names from the Expired Domain Auctions without any problems ! this because the original owner didn`t renew them at this time ..

Regards,

Registrars never own the domains, so how could they sell them? Registrars get paid for the service they provide to the customers who pay them to hold the domains they own. If a customer chooses not to renew a domain, it is the registrars duty to drop the domain, after which anyone can register it. Auctioning off expired domains that the original owners have paid for before they are dropped is a deeply unethical practice and I am saddened to see an otherwise great registrar like dynadot practice it.

as far as i understood, auctions work the same way in other places as well (godaddy ->tdnam, but need to be verified, im not sure)
check this out as well http://www.dynadot.com/resource/article/qa.html?aid=5

there are some other bad things with the way the auctions work at dynadot but im not gonna name them here, the above is not part of them in my view ;-)
