theres actually one other thing im not clear on, in relation with "failing to respond within 15 days to an inquiry regarding accuracy) shall be a basis for cancellation of the registration"

suppose someone files a false "false whois data complaint", you are obligated to try to contact us to investigate

do you only contact via e-mail?
what if the e-mail service fails? (and it does because someone is intentionally making it to fail)
do you also use some postal mail with receipt confirmation?
or maybe sms messages with receipt confirmation? or phone calls? or any verifiable way that can prove the contact info is either false (and cant contact) or the contact attempt succeeded but the owner refused to update?
im guessing someone will notice a domain suspension and try to initiate contact, if you do establish contact after suspension, can the domain be re-enabled?

all questions above are for _valid whois data_ and some attacker trying to get a domain name suspended, just trying to know how will this be handled.. i know it might not be an easy question, but just relying on email contact, its a weak point

im just saying theres a line drawn between whois data vs. account information, while i personally would have no issue with account information because its kept private by you and i have no reason to lie there (because _its private_ - im comfortable with that), and also wont do anything illegally with the domain because there will be a way to legally trace it back to me (through a court order demanding disclosure of it)
whois data is another thing and many people are uncomfortable with their real and full address going there, i personally use an anonymous P.O. box for such things.. but theres still the real name issue.. and your own whois protect service doesnt cover that (and i can understand why).. so i guess i need to buy papers to some offshore huh?

ok, point taken :-), thank you for the reply

The text you quoted, sections 3.7.7.1 and 3.7.7.2 from the ICANN policy applies to WHOIS data.

Advisory on WHOIS accuracy, which quotes your sections above:

http://www.icann.org/announcements/advisory-10may02.htm

If you provide Dynadot with incorrect account information, you are violating out Service Agreement:

http://www.dynadot.com/registration_agreement.html

If any information on the WHOIS record is incorrect, we contact the account holder and ask them to update.  Domains have been suspended for having False WHOIS information.

do you contact people on the whois information AND account information as well? or only whois?

i wont repeat the issues ive posted for the other topic about spam complaints related suspensions, where someone could cause an innocent site to get suspended using certain techniques, and with the registration provider not being extremely careful about such decisions, so think of the same situation there (replace spam with whois complaint) and let us know
https://www.dynadot.com/account/forum/f0-customer-feedback/spam-complaints-3820.html

and i know there is a debate over _whois_ data and personal data like the one ive provided for my account when ive registered here, see the below excerpts from icann:

3.7.7.1 The Registered Name Holder shall provide to Registrar accurate and reliable contact details and promptly correct and update them during the term of the Registered Name registration, including: the full name, postal address, e-mail address, voice telephone number, and fax number if available of the Registered Name Holder; name of authorized person for contact purposes in the case of an Registered Name Holder that is an organization, association, or corporation; and the data elements listed in Subsections 3.3.1.2, 3.3.1.7 and 3.3.1.8.

3.7.7.2 A Registered Name Holder's willful provision of inaccurate or unreliable information, its willful failure promptly to update information provided to Registrar, or its failure to respond for over fifteen calendar days to inquiries by Registrar concerning the accuracy of contact details associated with the Registered Name Holder's registration shall constitute a material breach of the Registered Name Holder-registrar contract and be a basis for cancellation of the Registered Name registration.

so the question is, will you suspend a domain just for having a "false" whois while the account itself has valid information? if you notice above, its disputable, it doesnt say whois contact information it just says i need to provide you with valid contact details, which can be the user account address, name, etc..details

We sent you an email on 4/23 regarding False WHOIS information for your domain and asked you to update your contact record.

On 4/27, we sent a reminded email, asking you again to update your WHOIS information.

Since we hadn't received any response from you on 4/30, your domain was disabled.
