DynaDot DNS reliability and performance

Hello DynaDot Staff,

An Internet outage/degradation occurred last evening/night that lasted for many hours. Presumably the outage was due to a router issue somewhere on the net.

This caused your DNS servers, website and some of our Domains (those just purchased and set-up w/ DynaDot DNS) to be totally unavailable from various areas on the internet.

That issue is now resolved, however during troubleshooting and testing it was discovered that there may be a concerning single point of vulnerability in the DynaDot network infrastructure... It seems that DynaDot only has two DNS/Nameservers that are both in the same IP space and apparently in close geographic proximity.

It also seems that these DNS servers aren't configured to respond to Port 53 TCP protocol requests... not a best practice from an overhead/performance perspective.

Is DynaDot aware of these network reliability and performance deficiencies and are they being addressed?

If not, these concerns will keep us from using or relying on DynaDot in the future for anything other than Domain Registration Services.

UPDATE: The above was intended to point out what could be improved from my perspective and not a criticism. I would like to see DynaDot grow and become even better.

When DynaDot and our sites seemed to disappear entirely from the NET while most other sites were still available there was a real concern that something serious had happened to DynaDot. I don't believe this would have occurred if there were DynaDot DNS nameservers located on different networks and in multiple geographic locations.

I'd like to add that DynaDot has been a refreshing alternative to all the others I've dealt with over many years. I found DynaDot because I was looking for an alternative to the other registrars that shovel way too much C*#p down customer throats these days.

Kudos to the DynaDot staff for all that you do so well!

Be careful how you use reports such as DNSreport to base your comments on. We have in excess of 300 domains with their DNS controlled by DynaDot and a number more patjed.

We saw no problems with the DNS service in the last few days so I would be looking at another point of failure.

Be sure of what you are saying before saying it mot just relying on DNSreport.
