My http://166.88.19.47/wp-login.php is showing that i already have set up a username and password but I have not. When I enter my email address to reset the password, it says thats not the right email.
Can this just be reset so I can proceed with setting it up correctly?
Also, I already followed the steps for propagating the domain name to show the wordpress but it's not working yet. Can you verify that it has been completed?
Do we still need to purchase the domain mapping for wordpress for $12? Despite having already purchased the VPS server with Wordpress?

You can shutdown your VPS and then rebuild again to start over. You can choose the same image or any of the other options.

As for your domain settings, I would change your 'www' subdomain record to an 'A' record and point it to your VPS IP address. Currently, your control panel is only accessible from your root domain.
